Two media reports say suspect in custody for alleged threats to kill Flint City Councilman Davis
FFLINT (CCN) — Two media reports say a suspect is in custody after making threats to kill Flint City Councilman Maurice Davis. ABC TV 12 and MLive / The Flint Journal reported that the news came from a press release out of Flint City Hall.
The allegations were made by the 2nd Ward city councilman on his regular Facebook Live video show and during Monday's (Feb. 8, 2021) Flint City Council meeting via a telephone conference call presented on YouTube and Comcast Xfinity's Channel 17.
The two media reports failed to name who was arrested by police.
"I do not believe anyone has been charged in the threats against Councilman (Davis). Last I knew, the investigation was continuing," said Genesee County Chief Deputy Prosecutor John Potbury. He added, however, that he isn't always "100% on top of cases" and was puzzled about the media reports.
Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley halted press releases to The Daily Gazette after The Morning Gazette Radio Show aired a telephone call he placed to complain about a story that never aired.
