Facebook page for The Morning Gazette Radio Show reports death of popular local teacher

GRAND BLANC — The Morning Gazette Radio Show Facebook Page reported 15 minutes ago that popular Grand Blanc High School teacher Charlie Carmody has passed away. He was 54.

Carmody was well known in the community as "The Voice of the Bobcats" because of more than two decades as public address system announcer at football and basketball games. He was a long-time teacher at the high school for mathematics and computer science.

Friends of Carmody confirm that he died at about 8:30 am at Genesys Regional Medical Center after collapsing earlier in the morning while talking with students in the hallway at Grand Blanc High School. Attempts at reviving him with CPR were done at the school before an ambulance arrived to transport him to Genesys.
