Clinton lead widens to 12% in latest poll for likely voters in state DETROIT — A poll conducted after Sunday's debate by two Detroit media outlets shows Democrat Hillary Clinton has widend her lead to nearly 12 percentage points over Republican Donald Trump. The new statewide poll was released by The Detroit News and WDIV TV-4. Trump had 30.6 percent to 42.2 percent for Clinton in the poll of 600 likely voters.

LANSING — Michigan Public Radio reported this morning that a Flint woman has filed a complaint in Ingham County to demand a grand jury be appointed to determine if Michigan Governor Rick Snyder (pictured above at right) should be indicted for using $2 million of tax funds for his person lawyers in the Flint case involving lead poisoned water. Leafs rookie Auston Matthews has record-setting, 4-goal NHL debut
OTTAWA — Rookie Auston Matthews started his NHL career in historic fashion here Wednesday night by scoring 4 goals for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Three players had bagged a 3-goal hat trick in their first game before Matthews made history last night. The 19-year-old from Arizona, who was the NHL's No. 1 draft pick last summer, accounted for all of Toronto's offense as the Maple Leafs dropped a 5-4 affair to the Ottawa Senators. Matthews played last year in a pro league in Europe after spending his senior year of high school in Ann Arbor with the 18-and-under National Development Team where his 117 points broke a team record set by Patrick Kane who went on to stardom in the NHL. Matthews scored 55 goals with Team USA, then scored 24 goals last year in Europe.
Ex-Tigers star Max Scherzer to pitch for Nationals in Game 5
WASHINGTON D.C. — Former Detroit Tigers star Max Scherzer will pitch tonight for the Washington Nationals in their decisive Game 5 showdown with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The winner of the game moves on to the National League Championship Series against the Chicago Cubs. Scherzer was a 20-game winner for the Nationsls this season with a sparkling 2.96 earned run average. He left the Tigers after the 2014 season to take a $15 million per year deal with the Nationals.

Drunken driving charge filed against city councilman in Flint
FLINT — A blood test confirmed that Flint City Councilman Wantwaz Davis was drunk when arrested after a late night Sept. 3 crash. The councilman refused a breathalyzer at the scene and spent the night at the Flint City Jail. He was released pending blood test results and told The Morning Gazette Radio Show that he wouldn't fight the charges if he was over the legal limit of .08. His blood alcohol was .10, according to a statement released by the office of Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton. Click Here to Read More
