Daily Gazette Sports Night Show raising money to send inner city 11-year-old to Chicago regional event in Jr Home Run Derby
FLINT — An 11-year-old slugger from International Academy in Flint is headed for the regional round of Major League Baseball's Jr. Home Run Derby in Chicago. Devon Davenport won the local qualifier at Flint Southwestern Academy, but his father doesn't have the funds or a vehicle to get young Devon to Chicago next Sunday. Mike Killbreath, host of the Daily Gazette Sports Night Show on CCN Radio, used his show on Friday to start raising funds for the youngster. Genesee County Circuit Court Judge Duncan Beagle became the initial contributor with a $50 donation, and urged his peers in the local legal community to match his gift. "We need to make sure this young man gets his chance to represent Flint," Judge Beagle said. Click Here for a Facebook Post to Hear Friday's Show and How to Contribute
